Title of category

[edit]

As I can see, usually, the "standard" title for category about Italian churches is the following.

  • in English language
  • no use of words like "Chiesa", "Duomo", "Cappella" and so on

@Threecharlie: @DenghiùComm: @Fl.schmitt: Could you confirm it, please?

If so, please @Brigante mandrogno: don't change the title of this category. By the way all the churches in Chieri are categorized according to this "standard" Category:Churches in Chieri. The same for Category:Churches in the metropolitan city of Turin by municipality and so on. MrKeefeJohn (talk) 09:53, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I won't change it. However, I can say that it's a pretty bad Italian habit not to use terms like 'Chiesa,' 'Duomo,' 'Cappella,' and so on, before the title, even if the broader category encompasses those terms. Brigante mandrogno (talk) 10:52, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't want to sound pedantic, but the correct names are 'Chiesa di ... ...', 'Complesso conventuale di ... ...', 'Oratorio di ... ...', 'Cattedrale di ... ...', and so forth. We have a vast variety of names to indicate and define each building, each carrying its own history alongside its name. Thus, writing merely 'San Domenico (Chieri)' is quite poor and historically imprecise. Brigante mandrogno (talk) 10:59, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Brigante mandrogno: I agree with you in pretty much everything, but the "standard" is different, so many user, including me, try to apply it. That's all. thank you for your answer and comprehension. MrKeefeJohn (talk) 11:09, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
