Sorting

Wouldn't it be a good idea to sort all images in the swedish runestone categories by their number, e g U123? An image of a particular stone would hopefully be easier to find in that way. We would need to agree of course if the sortkey should use the letter for the province or not, i e be U123 or simply 123. Since runestones are categorized by province, maybe some people would argue that the prefix letter is unnecessary. To be noted is of course that sorting is alphanumeric so that for instance number 1001 would be placed before 123. Not using the letter would make it possible to convert to numeric sorting, if that becomes available in the future. However, there could be use for additional runestone categories, including stones from all over the country, e g by period, by religion, by engraver etc. In such a case, the prefix letter would be significant and it might be simpler to use the same sortkey in that category. Wouldn't it be best to sort all of this into categories, one per runestone, this category is enormous, and rather hard to navigate through, I think it would be greatly advantageous to sort all images into categories and leave this one as a metacategory. I'm willing to offer to help in what ever menial way I can, for instance I'd be happy to start creating the categories to be populated. Liamdavies (talk) 17:02, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
