Proposed move to Category:Traffic control devices
[edit]The name of this category has always bothered me: it's quite vague and I'm not aware of it as being any sort of technical term. However, that's not to say that this isn't a technical term somewhere & I'm just not aware of it. I'm proposing to move this over to Category:Traffic control devices and to cleanup Category:Objects on roads. Any thoughts? Thanks! --Bossi (talk • gallery • contrib) 00:11, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- The usual official names of this things are relevant. For example, the Czech term (after the fasihon of european conventions) is „dopravní zařízení“ (translated „transport facilities“ or „traffic equipment“?). The German term (§ 43 StVO) is „Verkehrseinrichtungen “ too. Some of them are intended no for traffic control, but for traffic protection and security. --ŠJů (talk) 11:22, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- I agree both with the "road equipment" sounds strange as well as with the argument that "traffic control devices" alone is too narrow. Sadly, I have no good alternative in mind! Ingolfson (talk) 05:47, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
