Comment then those need to be renamed as well if you ask me. As far as I can see category names for paintings are usually plural. But the more important point is that I would like to split this category into just "Self-portraits" (to be sorted in Category:Rembrandt) and "Self-portrait paintings" (to be sorted in Category:Paintings by Rembrandt) so that there's a clear distinction between paintings and other media (drawings and prints). - You are completely right that all "xxx selfportrait" should be renamed to "self-portraits by (of?) xxx". But such changes have to be done for all categories or for none. Because most self-portraits are paintings, I would seperate only the non paintings into "Self-portrait drawings by/of/from xxx". --Foroa (talk) 09:05, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
- Now I get it. I thought it only concerned the 5 categories under category:17th-century self-portraits, but I now see that at least 38 categories use this construction. - The easiest is to do add a move template in category:selfportraits and list the related categories on the talk page. We still have to agree on the "self-portraits by/of xx" issue and how we will integrate drawings into it. I would say: by default, self-portaits can be any form, and if for a specific artist, a significant amount of drawings, sculptures, photo's, ... become available, we make a specific subcat for it. --Foroa (talk) 19:16, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
