- Oppose I see no reason why you can't just create a supercategory for that. These are clearly jet engine powered track drying equipment. -- 65.94.170.207 23:59, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- Per the principles in the policy Commons:Categories. 1) Category is too specific with the addition of "jet". I argue for a less specific category first and once it gets more images then break down by type of dryer. Other dryers use different technology like forced air, dragging tires, sweeping broom wheels, etc. I have taken images of these types (that I would consider uploading) but the category is incompatible. I decided to start this discussion because File:Track Dryer Road America 2013 Scott 160.jpg is incompatible with this category. It blows air to dry the paved surface and push dust/soil off the track. 2) The parent category is racing circuits not racetracks. Race tracks is the North American term. Commons uses a world view not a nationalistic. Please see the section "Universality principle" in the policy. Royalbroil 03:53, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
- No, a wikt:circuit is a loop, a track does not have such a connotation. There are many racing surfaces that are not circuitous. A drag strip is not a circuit, but is still a track. A race circuit is a track and a strip is a track but a drag strip is not a circuit. Jet dryers are also much more prominent track maintenance equipment (especially with the spectacular Montoya crash) than other sorts of dryers, so I'd expect that future uploads would tend towards those from a variety of uploaders, especially given their jet engine noise. Thus, I stand on my comment, that you should make a parent category to contain all forms of track drying equipment, instead of renaming this one. -- 65.94.170.207 05:19, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
