Rename to "Ports and harbours"

[edit]

Oppose - "Ports" are facilities for moving goods, harbours are sheltered anchorages, whether manmade or not. The fact that they are often confused or mis-named does not mean we should just throw them in together. Ingolfson (talk) 11:25, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • I agree with Ingolfson, but it will be a problem to categorize riverports in Poland. JDavid (talk) 10:50, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes, but we are talking about such places as Niechorze or Mrzeżyno which are in fact just landing zones on the beach. Why do not use the term LANDING for them, and the PIER or WHARF for others? belissarius (talk) 04:53, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
There are two two special status for harbours in Poland. First "Port of Kołobrzeg" (port morski) and "Kuźnica Harbour" (przystań morska). Port could be created by minister responsible for marine economy, but harbour by director of marine office. Yes, most of harbours are just landing zones like Dąbki, Niechorze, but sometimes Harbour status can be given to Pier in Międzyzdroje or Sopot. I think one category is a mistake. Third type of harbours is War (Naval) Port e.g. port wojenny Świnoujście, port wojenny Gdynia. JDavid (talk) 07:37, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
