Category talk:Pavo cristatus in India
moved from user talk to related category talk for the reason that interested Wikimedians may share their opinions, quotation start:
==Category:Pavo cristatus in India== Hi Roland - what's the point of this new category? Since the species is nearly endemic to India, it means this subcategory is essentially a straight synonym of Category:Pavo cristatus, and therefore just makes for superfluous extra difficulty in accessing files. Apart from the tiny handful of pics from Nepal and Sri Lanka, any Pavo cristatus not in India should go into one of the subcategories of Category:Pavo cristatus (captive), as of course should any in captive situations in India. I'd say the new category should be deleted as superfluous. Please remember too, to add the taxonavigation paragraph to subcategories like Category:Pavo cristatus in the Nagarhole National Park, as if not, these very important files of natural wild individuals are denied to automated users like EOL which use the taxonav to pick up images. Also, it is very important to be sure that files showing wild birds and files showing captive birds are not mixed up in the same [sub]category. Thanks! - MPF (talk) 15:42, 28 June 2016 (UTC) [quotation end]
- Hi, and in short, thank you MPF for your opinion, and feel free to act as you prefer, p.e. to merge, delete, or whatever, as I'm not much experienced in taxonomic issues, kindly regards, Roland zh (talk) 16:56, 28 June 2016 (UTC)
- Comment BTW, as just remarked, imho i did start the WLS-related subcategories, but rather did not categorize individual files in the category itself... hence, imho other Wikimedians already have been involved as per individual file histories, bye Roland zh (talk) 17:27, 28 June 2016 (UTC)
