Proposed move
[edit]- Comment Partial disagree; instead, merge into Category:Struthio camelus massaicus. Tanzania covers most of the range of the subspecies, and there are very few images of this subspecies from outside of that country (currently just 10). Categorisation of natural taxa by human-created political boundaries is also very unhelpful in principle; only natural zoogeographical boundaries (by default, the same as the subspecies) should be used. - MPF (talk) 20:14, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
- Comment No objection to move. Just check each image to verify species!
Categorization by human-created political boundaries may be helpful when the images have no geo-tagging. In that case, the exact location might be hard to define. It is also widespread practice in commons to categorize by country. As an idea it would be nice to have an script to show location of all geo-tagged photos belonging to a certain species on a re-sizable world map. --Nevit Dilmen (talk) 17:52, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- NO move. Category:Struthio camelus massaicus of Tanzania could be intended as a subspecies of Category:Struthio camelus massaicus. For country categorization we can use category:ostriches of Tanzania without moving and simply adding files to category:Struthio camelus massaicus--Pierpao.lo (listening) 08:13, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
