[edit]

Cat title with ' ... ' is quite strange to me. Is "slave" not a normal word? --E4024 (talk) 15:32, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What it's trying to say is that most of these photographs are believed not to be slaves, but of ordinary poor people, with "slave" added to the description to add to the orientalist flair.--Prosfilaes (talk) 20:29, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much, Prosfilaes, that's exactly the answer I was expecting to receive. You know, there are several images in Category:Odalisques that should be not be there but only in this cat. They are not the future wives of Ottoman sultans learning languages, painting, music, design etc in the harem in their harem pants and embroidered vests but poor women who go around semi naked in the slum streets of Northern Africa hoping to earn somehow a piece of bread to eat. The fact that someone named the photograph or added the file the word "odalisque" does not make them odalisques. Some of these pictures belong to the same photographers or same depicted poor ladies in this cat that for using the word "odalisque" went to the wrong cat. Thank you also for the last edit to the present cat in 2016. Regards. --E4024 (talk) 06:57, 6 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
