Rename request
[edit]Discussion to the requested rename: Category:Old maps of Scania → Category:Old maps of Skåne.
Question @Moralist and Urbandweller: Can be Skåne, Skåne County and Scania perceived as identical? In such case, this category should be considered as a duplicate of Category:Old maps of Skåne County and merged there. However, cann't the Latin/English name be used to distinguish historical era of the maps? --ŠJů (talk) 04:43, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
- The question is definitely relevant. Skåne County did not exist until at the end of the 20th century, when two different counties merged. Skåne is a cultural area, belonging to the geographical concept of landskap (eng. provinces) in Sweden. Of the 25 or so provinces which exist, I only know of a couple who have Latin names. Thus it would be hard to generalize categories for the provinces if only some of them could be named in Latin and the rest in Swedish. I have no conception of whether the Latin/English name have been used more widely historically, but I think that the maps in the Category as of now range from different historical periods. //moralist (talk) 22:42, 17 July 2018 (UTC)
