He agregado "Monuments and memorials in Santiago de Chile" como subcategoría directa de la categoría Santiago de Chile porque los monumentos, estatuas, placas recordatorias, etc., no sólo tienen que ver con la historia, el arte y los edificios en Santiago, sino también con la ciudad misma, es decir son parte física de la ciudad. De hecho muchos de ellos no están relacionados con la historia de Santiago. Sirven de puntos de encuentro, de referencia, de recuerdos. De ninguna manera debe circuncribirse al arte y la historia de Santiago, aunque por supuesto estos también son muy importantes. Hello. Sorry that I cannot reply in Spanish. Please read COM:OVERCAT. It is unnecessary and inappropriate to place this subcategory in the parent Category:Santiago de Chile, when it is already in several subcategories of the parent. This subcategory can easily be found in the history, buildings and art subcategories of Category:Santiago de Chile, in a manner consistent with comparable categories for most other large cities worldwide. If you are looking for File:Mindszenty-Providencia.JPG o File:Monumento a los Vencedores de Bailén.JPG then you will never find the images because they (a Hungary bishop and the battle of Bailen) belong neither to the history of Santiago nor to the art of Santiago. Moreover, the monuments belong physically to the city, that is this "art" or "history" are of course meeting points, points of reference and places to remember for the people of Santiago. And, I am sorry, but your rationale does not make much sense. Monuments belonging "physically" in the city has nothing to do with the manner in which we categorize images or COM:OVERCAT - the fact that a file pertains to something physically located in the city does not mean that we need to categorize it in both parent and sub categories It is unclear why these memorials have nothing to do with the City's art or history. Is it because they are made up largely of inscriptions? That is a rationale for another subcategory, not to ignore COM:OVERCAT. If what you mean is that some monuments pertain to people or events that have nothing to do with Santiago, that still is not a valid rationale for ignoring COM:OVERCAT. That is the case for most large cities worldwide - most large cities contain monuments and memorials commemorating events and people that have nothing to do with the city, yet nonetheless the monuments and memorials category tree complies with COM:OVERCAT. The simple fact is that the monuments you mentioned very much do form part of the art of Santiago, regardless of the subject they commemorate, given their location, and the fact that such monuments were installed in Santiago, and the fact that such people and events were commemorated in Santiago, forms part of the City's heritage and history. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 20:01, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
