 Oppose Genus is called 'Lama' and in there there are species 'Lama glama', on Commons there is a rule of thumb of using the this classification for animals, English language is not the only one that everybody should change to. Beta M (talk) 08:39, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

1) The use of the English plural 's' means that "Lamas" here must be the common English word, not its Latin genus name (Latin genus names are not pluralized in English by adding -s), and in English a "lama" is a Tibetan Buddhist monk, and a "llama" is species of Lama so "Lamas" is wrong as either an English name or a Latin name.

2) I do not think there is any reason why the common English name should not be used in this case, as we have very many categories which use the common English names of animals (e.g. Dogs in art, Horses in art, Rhinoceroses in art, etc. BabelStone (talk) 12:17, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Good point about the '-s' ending. I do admit that it makes this category name not correct, but in my opinion your proposed rename is also incorrect. Thus it's a choice between two incorrect names one of which is current and another proposed, and as such for now i keep my vote, but would agree with "Lama animals at Machu Picchu" or something along these lines.  Support the requests and BabelStone's arguments. The proposed names are correct and in line with Commons practices. The current names are clearly incorrect. "Lama animals" is too strange. Theoretically, Category:Lama glama at Machu Picchu would be also compatible with Commons conventions but for combinations genus+location or genus in art, English names are more common. --ŠJů (talk) 21:21, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
