Better category name

[edit]

Jokulhlaup, hi. maybe you can help me with the Category name. I use "walkway" but maybe is better "Lighthouses with attached footbridge/s" or "Lighthouses accessed by footbridge/s". As you already noticed i am not a fluent English speaker. Thank you --JotaCartas (talk) 17:38, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@JotaCartas, Auntof6, and Themightyquill: could you help here? "Walway" is obvious typo --Estopedist1 (talk) 06:18, 2 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
oops, I did no noticed the typo "walway", but que question remains: help to choose the proper name to de Category --JotaCartas (talk) 06:31, 2 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Jota, I think "Lighthouses with attached walkway" is fine, and I would combine this with Category:Lighthouses with attached catwalk as catwalk has too many fashion connotations. I think walkway is a better term than the "footbridge" options, which don't sound right to me. Rowlett uses the term walkway when describing Marshall Point for example...--Jokulhlaup (talk) 09:45, 2 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I can say that I had a similar discussion at Commons:Categories for discussion/2019/09/Category:Gangway of Torre de Belém recently, which moved from gangway to bridge. "Walkway" sounds fine to the ear, but note that Category:Walkways is rather about something else... even Category:Elevated walkways doesn't look like these. If Category:Footbridges is the best parent category, I would recommend going with that. If a more appropriate parent category can be found, I'm open to other solutions. - Themightyquill (talk) 12:13, 7 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
