Renaming

[edit]

{{move|Sogen-ji (Matsugaya, Taito, Tokyo)|as per [[:ja:曹源寺 (台東区)|its official name]]; "Kappa-dera Temple" is a redundant term since ''dera'' means "temple" in Japanese|2021-12-25||Japan}}

@Yasu: the name is acceptable, see eg Commons:Categories for discussion/2020/08/Category:Mount Tonomine--Estopedist1 (talk) 09:41, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Estopedist1: So you think the colloquial name is preferred over the official naming? Is there any proof that "Kappa-dera Temple" is used much more commonly than "Sogen-ji" ? Yasu (talk) 15:05, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Yasu: enwiki article is under en:Kappa-dera (also there is a redirect en:Kappa-dera Temple) Estopedist1 (talk) 15:51, 8 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Estopedist1: Did you know that Wikipedia articles cannot be used as reliable sources? Do you have any references, other than Wikipedia, to prove "Kappa-dera Temple" is the most accepted name? Yasu (talk) 14:58, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Yasu: are you satisfied if we rename it to category:Kappa-dera? Per enwiki Estopedist1 (talk) 15:02, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Estopedist1: "Kappa-dera" is of course far better than "Kappa-dera Temple", but then again, are you really sure that the name "Kappa-dera" is used more than the official naming? (I looked into w:Category:Buddhist temples in Tokyo and noticed that all of other articles in the category use the temples' official names as their article names.) In any case, what is important here is to give the category appropriate name, not to satisfy the nominator IMHO. Yasu (talk) 15:05, 15 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
