Regret to say that all the attributions here for Sir John Charles Robinson where the engravings were done for ”The Illustrated London News” are incorrect.

A particular company (Meisterdrucke) has given a large number of newspaper illustrations the wrong attribiution.

Sir John Charles Robinson wdid not supply work like this, for newspapers.

Where the engraving is signed C.R. the engraver is Charles Robinson (1840–81), and not Sir John Charles Robinson (1840–81).

I strongly suspect that their original research was from “Look and Learn” and as you can see L & L have since corrected their records.
