Removal of a category

[edit]

@DenghiùComm: , could you please explain why you removed the category "Imitation of coins by country"? --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 16:50, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I see that you added the imitation of money of China there, but this category also contains banknotes so it's still quite odd as banknotes are usually not seen as a sub-category of coins. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 16:51, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If we say "coins" it means only metal money. If we say "Money" it means "banknotes" and "coins". --DenghiùComm (talk) 16:55, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@DenghiùComm: Reductively speaking "yes", though plastic token coins and paper coins are also considered to be "coins" (though paper coins are also considered "banknotes"). There probably should be a page named "Category:Imitations of money by country" and/or "Category:Imitations of money". Note that "imitations" is a bit of a wider term than "counterfeit" as counterfeit money doesn't include fantasies or slight deviations. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 17:04, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Donald Trung: What is not correct, that is the category "Imitation of money of China" as subcat of "Imitation of coins by country". Coins are subcats of money, not the reverse. The error is that we have not the mother cat "Imitation of money". DenghiùComm (talk) 17:07, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@DenghiùComm: , I'll create the appropriate mother categories tonight. Though I had earlier refrained because China is the only sub-cat but I think that it would be better to have "the infrastructure" in place for future editors. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 18:00, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Thanks. DenghiùComm (talk) 18:19, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
