Category pages not encyclopedic

[edit]

I am reversing a reversal of my edit yesterday because of WC policy that category pages can have a brief description of a category's contents, and necessary clarifications of it, but should not contain any excessive information which belongs in WP articles. There was more genealogy here than what would seem to be OK for a page like this. EmilEikS (talk) 15:51, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop trolling [1] 79.193.80.51 16:08, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Continued accusations of that kind will result in your IP being reported for misconduct. EmilEikS (talk) 16:11, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Again, please stop trolling. Next time I will save my "please". Look at your interwikis. What about doing something useful? 79.193.80.51 16:15, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have restored your useful language edits. Sorry I removed them by mistake. They do belong here of course. Other than that I have no idea what you mean and can only repeat that more creepy anonymous accusations will lead to your IP being reported for misconduct. Have you red your deleted interwikis? They ALL name her Marie Pavlovna, not Marie 79.193.80.51 16:29, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have reinstated them, (I hope) and apologized (above). Also reinstated her name now that I know what you mean. See how great it is to discuss things? Her name as a Swedish princess was "Maria" see image, so I left that in as an alternate. Thx for helping! EmilEikS (talk) 16:35, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
PS - are you sure aboue "Marie Pavlovna" not "Maria Pavlovna"? EmilEikS (talk) 16:37, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
All images where she is included are in her category (I have checked allover). The info about her relatives is absolutely not relevant to WC. WC rules are such as I have quoted them. No encyclopedic content unless necessary to clarify the contents of the category. Shall we break them, do you think? (Desideria had only one son, no daughters btw...) These women have all different names - even in their home countries, they marry, they get divorced, often with a new name. The rule is, that a curious guy has a better chance to find her. When you delete the wikis, the searcher has more time to spend. It's so simple 79.214.237.47 19:50, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Haven't I apologized enough already? And fixed that? Please, I get it. If you mean links in the intro text, all that text is not allowed. Shall we break that rule? WP articles are for finding all that info, not category page intro texts here at Commons. EmilEikS 20:32, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
PS - Duplication of information is considered very dangerous to content quality. The rules are very good. EmilEikS (talk) 20:34, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
A proposal: This is Commons:Village_pump. Take these examples or only this [2] and ask them, whether it was a good idea to delete the Desirée Clary wiki. Good luck 79.214.237.47 21:19, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for this constructive proposal which I am moving to the discussion page of that queen at Category:Desideria of Sweden. EmilEikS (talk) 21:59, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
