Support The Wikimedia Commons Manual of Style explicitly states that category name is required in English: "We have to realize that Commons Wikimedia project is not a Wikipedia project, and that we have limited competences regarding Encyclopedic matter. Therefore, we should not repeat debates, in Commons, about issues which have been resolved after hard word and sustained discussions in a Wikipedia project. Which project? Inevitably due to the language policy rule, the English Wikipedia will be the reference for any encyclopedic issue, there is little choice but to use matching English Wikipedia articles as the basis for Commons category names."...this quote comes directly from Commons:Naming categories. The same comments are repeated in Commons:Language policy. Unlike Wikipedia, there are really few exceptions where other languages are used in file-naming: "Paços do Concelho", as well as "Concelho" or "Freguesia" are not English terms, and can be appropriately substituted for their English equivalent: "municipal hall/seat", "municipality" and "civil parish".Ruben JC (Zeorymer) (talk) 14:41, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
