Rename proposal

[edit]

Requested rename: Category:Falz-Fein House in OdessaCategory:Weinstein House in Odessa with a reason: "Weinstein is the first owner of house. The house of Falz-Fein is near."

  •  Comment @Investigatio, Ykvach, and Bogdanov-62: The monument ID 51-101-0194 links to the tittle Будинок Фальц-Фейна, which comes from uk:Вікіпедія:Вікі любить пам'ятки/Одеська область/Одеса (Г—Й). It is needed to verify and correct first the uk-Wikipedia monument list, to explain this mistake and to add some sources supporting your claim or the current tittle. --ŠJů (talk) 05:06, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This is only name in registered list, but it's not a first owner. The ministry very rarely change the names in register, most of them are untouched from first half of 1990s. But this category is for buinding, not especialy for Wiki loves monuments Investigatio (talk) 22:47, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Investigatio: The rename proposal misses reliable and convincing sources that:
    • the Falz-Fein House is identical with the mentioned and documented Weinstein House
    • the name Weinstein House is most commonly used for it, more than the name used in the monument register. --ŠJů (talk) 01:47, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
But there is other Falz-Fein house on Gogolya, 7 (apartment building) which maybe not owned before by Weinstein (no sources about it). The sculpture works of it's facade some similiar, but structures totally different and independed. At Gogolya, 5 - Weinstein is a first known owner. At Gogolya, 7 - Falz-Fein is a first known owner. I think better name all buildings by first owners, not by the crowd known names - it's encyclopedical method. In Ukraine there is no fixed names for buildings at all Investigatio (talk) 13:33, 29 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Investigatio: Naturally, most of things in the world have no fixed names. :-) However, the used names should be correct (proven), and the most commonly used names should be preferred if possible. Thus, the two points should be documented by sources. And the argument should for the change should be stronger than the name used by the official monument list. You linked no credible published text which support your claims. --ŠJů (talk) 01:18, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
In Ukraine for old buildings we use names of their first real owner. If appear that building has other first owner it must used. It's not fixed by any institutions and does not have relation to popularity by folks. The names of building by owners depends only on knowledge. And accordingly popularity of names depended on sources included Wikipedia.
If you need sources about names of owners of this building you need to read text about that building on wikipedia: https://uk.wikipedia.org/wiki/Будинок_Г._Е._Вейнштейна Investigatio (talk) 18:04, 26 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
