[edit]Only 9 teams they had notable absences in this tournament: Italy (1958), Argentina (1970), Mexico (1974, 1982), England (1974, 1978, 1994), Spain (1954, 1958, 1970, 1974), France (1962, 1970, 1974, 1990, 1994), Uruguay (1958), Czechoslovakia (1966), and Yugoslavia (1966). The national teams who failed to qualify for one or some FIFA World Cup editions.
