Move to Category:Christian Orthodox weddings
[edit]Oppose Parent cats are all Orthodox without Christian prefix. --Foroa (talk) 17:24, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
- This comment is, of course, a mistruth ;). The two parents of this category are Christian weddings and Orthodox liturgy (the latter deriving in turn from Christian denominations; as everyone here knows an "Orthodox wedding" can be an Orthodox Jewish wedding)... - Why continue saying things which are a patent untruth? Orrlingtalk 01:16, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
- Support some of the other categories need renaming as well. "Eastern Orthodoxy" and "Orthodox churches" are probably clear enough, but "Orthodox liturgy", "Orthodox rites", "Orthodox cemeteries"? Rd232 (talk) 13:40, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
- Support Everywhere that there is genuine ambiguity, we should say "Christian Orthodox", (or, where relevant, "Oriental Orthodox" to distinguish from "Eastern Orthodox"), because just "Orthodox" can as easily mean Jewish. - Jmabel ! talk 15:59, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
- Note that I opposed basically because there should be a general naming rule for all associated categories, there should be a consensus about the yet-another-name name as "Christian Orthodox" doesn't seem to solve the problem and all related categories should be renamed accordingly in one go. --Foroa (talk) 16:54, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
- As per Jmabel, the term "orthodox" is clearly ambiguous, the more as Christian orthodox and Jewish orthodox topics do really overlap. So, a plain cat:Orthodox something, when it refers to either Christian or Jewish orthodoxy, is not acceptable IMO. As per Foroa, if this problem concerns many cats, then a rfc/discussion might be wise. However, this rfc/discussion shouldn't aim too broad, as such this discussions on Commons often end nowhere. --Túrelio (talk) 08:09, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
- Lets be as precise as possible and not invent ambiguous names. I moved it all to Category:Eastern Orthodox weddings as this was the case: Christian Orthodox has to many meanings, including calvinists, anglican ... There is no such Chirstian Orthodix main category anyway, en:Christian_Orthodox is a disambiguation. --Foroa (talk) 12:08, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
