I have created "Distribution substation by country" today. In the future, it would make sense to have additional subcategories like Distribution substations by power, by material, by period in architecture etc. Nillerdk (talk) 15:28, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm afraid, that only few commons users understand heart of the question. Even Europe doesn't use standart parameters, you can find 66000 V in Spain despite standart voltages in this set are 110000V and 35000V; but parameters in America and other continents will vary radically. Better to add HVDC substations, but again my country doesn't use them, so I had no possibilities to work with them and I can't sort due to missing expirience (I mean material became forgotten quickly of you don't work with it), the only thing is find the material of poor lectures. Well, we can't merge even domestic substations into subcategory, cause America and Canada use 1 substation per house, but Europe and ex-USSR countries use shared distribution substations. Low voltage domestic substations in America have power approximately 90 kW, but domestic substations in Europe have power 312 kW and more; power row of substations for tower blocks begin from 10 MW. This difference will be more evident in villages, cause America still use one 90 kW substation to one house, but Europen villages use one 1.5 MW substation to 30 or 50 houses. Two continents share power on different voltage sides; results will be more scattered comparing whole world. It is almost impossible to sort between subcategories like Distribution substations by power, by material, by period in architecture etc. Dmitry G (talk) 21:14, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
