Versions earlier than 2.0 not Debian-based, but Gnuzilla

[edit]

While the lower-case -weasel in the browser program's title bar usually indicates a Debian package since about the time Debian started using this name in its fork of Mozilla Firefox, then versions earlier than 2.0 are actually Gnuzilla-based.[1][2] After Iceweasel was adopted by Debian and included as a package since version 2.0 of the browser, GNU changed the name of its package to IceWeasel to differentiate, and then a year later to IceCat, because confusion persisted.

Thus it follows with some certainty that Iceweasel versions (with a lower-case w in their name) prior to 2.0 are all GNUzilla-based and screenshots of these versions should not be included in this category, but moved to Category:Gnuzilla. -Mardus (talk) 14:53, 24 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
