Source of the maps
[edit]These maps have been elaborated with the information contained in:
- Infodep, Atlas agroclimático de Chile. There are the six volumen of the Atlas in high resolution (~500 MB cada uno) and the shapefile with the "distritos";
- The administrative regions of Chile are taken from https://data.humdata.org/dataset/cod-ab-chl . This shapefile includes the new Region Of Ñuble, which doesn't appear in the older BCN shapefile;
- The borders of the hydrographical basins are taken from the shapefile offered in the website of [[:es:Dirección General de Aguas]] : https://dga.mop.gob.cl/estudiospublicaciones/mapoteca/Paginas/Mapoteca-Digital.aspx
- The cities are taken from the website of the [[:es:Biblioteca del Congreso Nacional de Chile]] (BCN) : https://www.bcn.cl/siit/mapas_vectoriales/index_html
This shapesfiles were loaded into QGIS 3.22.7, edited and created a heavy SVG file, with Inkscape 1.1.2 improved and finally loaded into GIMP 2.10.30 to generate a light PNG file.
As the use of public information is free, the png files belonged to me and I set these file to Creative Commons. Juan Villalobos (talk) 11:02, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
Furthermore, roads and localities have been taken from:
- https://mapcruzin.com/free-chile-country-city-place-gis-shapefiles.htm for zones with low desnsity of population
- https://www.bcn.cl/siit/mapas_vectoriales/index_html for big cities in zones with high density of population
- https://geodata.mit.edu/?f%5Bdc_format_s%5D%5B%5D=Shapefile&f%5Bdct_spatial_sm%5D%5B%5D=Chile&per_page=20 (-->Mayor roads)

Faults:
- Using the layer "places" there is a lot of red points (symbols) that don't have a label because their labels are suppressed to avoid collision. Often appear a name with several red points near that could be the symbol of that label. Nobody knows which is the real red point of that label.--Juan Villalobos (talk) 16:01, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
