set for now

[edit]

@Watchduck: This is a collection of glyphs; any other glyph in this font should equally be in this category. How is this an image set? 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 17:45, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@1234qwer1234qwer4: Marking a general category as {{Set for now}} (as opposed to {{Set}}) means only, that right now all images in the category belong to the same set (compare). One could also move them to a subcategory immediately (compare).
So much for the meaning. There is still the question whether or not these images do form a set. It is not as obviously a set as this one, but still they clearly belong together. They are all cropped without a margin, and they have the same naming scheme. Estrangelo Nisibin is a clearer case, BTW. The square format and this particular margin are not part of the typeface, so the images form a set. Greetings, Watchduck (quack) 21:39, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Misleading Unicode codepoints in these filenames

While some of these glyphs are safely classifiable as more or less typical for the Unicode character indicated in their filename, many are pretty much not so. (See some examples in the table at the right.)

This is a misuse of Unicode codepoint numbers and as bad as, say, adding U+A762 to the filenane of any of the files in Category:Ç, or U+1E9E to those in Category:SS ligature. (@Evertype: Do you want to comment?)

I ask for all these to be renamed in a simple manner: Replace in each filename U+04nn with (n), i.e. the referenced character in brackets in place of its codepoint number. That way, the intended equivalence is kept, but the many cases where these glyphs diverge significantly from the typical letterform are highlighted and reusers can make use of their discretion.

Indeed this font is not compatible with Unicode. Do I understand it right that you want to parenthesise the (parts of the) codepoints that deviate from the standard? 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 12:10, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I want to parenthesize equally all filenames, to make it simpler. (Not 100% okay with the way you put it, «this font is not compatible with Unicode», but that’s beside the point here.) -- Tuválkin 12:16, 27 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
