What?
[edit]Does anyone have a clue what this cat means? Or should we just delete it? Andy Dingley (talk) 14:25, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Andy. There is no such word as "sleve" in English. It seems the person who created the cat is a German-speaker, not a native English-speaker. I think the cat is for artillery propellant charge cases, if that is the correct term. The cat is worth keeping but needs renaming. I am not familiar enough with the topic to know if there is a more concise, and still apt, name than Category:Artillery propellant charge cases. Possibly Category:Propellant charge cases. I'm not sure. Nurg (talk) 08:33, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- I would agree that it's something like that. But "like" isn't good enough. In particular, is this for Category:Propellant bags, for Category:Propellant charge cases (carrying cases for bagged charges), for Category:Cartridge cases in larger artillery sizes or for Category:Quick-firing artillery where the round and propellant casing are handled as one unit?
- We could justify any of these. But there's little need for an overall category (we have "artillery ammunition") and certainly not for one that's so unclear no-one knows what it's for.
- It's linked to its own Wikidata QID (Wikidata is unsourced, so no use for anything) and the very thin German page at de:Kartusche (Munition). That seems the same scope as Category:Cartridge cases, which this clearly either isn't, or would be a trivial duplicate of. Andy Dingley (talk) 10:38, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
