Indo-Persian weapons/equipment?

[edit]

@Worldantiques: , hi, do you have any proper source to back this claim up? In other words; can you show any reliable sources that state that the whole Indo-Persian concept, which includes weaponry, referred to both ancient India and Iran, instead of just (Medieval) India? - LouisAragon (talk) 01:54, 22 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can see by looking through the reliable sources, the whole Indo-Persian concept solely refers to matters such as literature/culture/weaponry of Ancient India that were inspired and/or created by the adoption of aspects of Persian culture, and has nothing to do with matters pertaining to Iran proper.[1][2] Just because they both had alot of similar weapons (which weren't even limited to the two regions), doesn't mean we should resort in making original research. • Categorizing certain weapons under the umbrella category of "Indo-Persian weapons" is no different than using the term "European weapons", it makes it easier for people to find and use the images, which is the reason that Wikimedia Commons exists. Exactly why are you so worried about this specific category? Do a google search and see what comes up, it is a very common term for collectors, dealers, museums etc, remember, this is not Wikipedia, it is Wikimedia Commons. If you feel that some other category would be helpful feel free to add it but removing a category that actually helps people find images is not really helping anybody. "The extent of Persian influence in the form and decoration of Indian arms and armor is such that the weapons of the two regions are usually treated together", from "The New Weapons of the World Encyclopedia: An International Encyclopedia from 5000 B.C. to the 21st Century".
