Roman is not Ancient Greek

[edit]

The English text on a notice on site says: "The Hellenistic theatre (about 5300 seats) was later replaced in Roman times by a monumental building with three galleries (seats: 15000, height 40 m)." I doubt if, knowing this, the name “Ancient Greek Theatre” is proper for the construction we see. Ancient Greek mainly refers to a period in Greek language development, and that period ends with the start of the Hellenistic Period. In addition, “replaced” implies a total overhaul. So “Roman Theatre” would be better. I think many theatres that properly should be called Roman are also called Ancient Greek, this not being the only one.
