Reason for change

[edit]

All sculptors are categorized according with the formula : "Sculptors from ....". Categories previously existing such as "Greek sculptors" have been deleted and changed into "Sculptors from Greece" and so on. However, if we want to keep faith to the contrasting rule of the "Sculptors by period" category ("Gothic sculptors", "Romanesque sculptors") instead, then the style and not the Country of origin should be used: in this case the move should be rather to a category: "Classical Greek sculptors", and a new category "Hellenistic sculptors" should be made since "hellenistic" and "classical" Greek sculpture are considered two different styles. In such a case, perhaps also a "Late Hellenistic" sculpture (which could include Ancient Roman sculpture) should be foreseen. --G.dallorto 11:32, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This change was performed but reverted due to a misunderstanding, as "Ancient Greek sculptors" follows the naming conventions of the category category:People of Ancient Greece (which was formerly "Category:Ancient Greeks"); all should be changed. It is currently being discussed on my talk page and that of the other user. -- Editor at Largetalk 11:52, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
