Rename proposal

[edit]

To move Category:Adamowice (Silesian Voivodeship) to Category:Adamowice (Lyski) was proposed with a reason "uniform naming". The reason seems to be groundless. Both linked Wikipedia articles use the voivodeship as a disambiguation, and none of sister categories in that category branch use this form. --ŠJů (talk) 14:24, 5 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Well but we dont adopt Wikipedia system on commons. Anyway I dont mind at this time how the category will be named, but there should be a broader consensus to create uniform system on Commons.--Juandev (talk) 20:35, 7 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There exist common naming principles at Commons, but detailed conventions about geographical items (level of dissambiguation etc.) have their specifics by country usually. I think, the convetions applied on Polish villages are consistent and complying. Btw., Polish "gmina" are not exactly identic with Czech "obec", they have a bit different history and different toponymic role and naming conventions. Polish Wikimedians are more able to choose the ideal system for categorization of Polish sites. No need to apply the Czech system to Poland. --ŠJů (talk) 00:42, 8 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yup let them choose: Category:Rudnik (powiat raciborski), Category:Przewóz, Opole Voivodeship, Category:Błażejowice, powiat kędzierzyńsko-kozielski, Category:Podlesie (gmina Cisek) - very uniform and very useful.--Juandev (talk) 06:53, 8 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
