They are not the same. They happen to have the same contents now, but are conceptually different things. One is for pictures of the 2024 Laureus Award. I uploaded my pictures but anyone else could add other pictures.
The other is an administrative category for pictures supported by Wikimedia España and nobody else will be able to categorize new pictures there. Not all pictures that could end up in the main category will be supported by Wikimedia España. Barcex (talk) 09:56, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This was clearly a miscategorization. WP:OVERCAT exists here. If both categories are to be preserved, the Spanish one must be a subcategory of the main one. So I removed the duplication in the categorization tree. Kacir (talk) 12:47, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
