English: York North roundhouse was part of a large steam locomotive depot (50A) on the East Coast Main Line in York which had at least 4 turntables. The main roundhouse was rebuilt in the 1950s, and on closure to steam in 1976 became York TMD (Traction Maintenance Depot). Despite the loss of steam it retained two turntables through a renovation period, from which it emerged as the main building of the new National Railway Museum, officially opened in 1975.
