The guidebook Strolling through Istanbul indicates Suleiman the Magnificent built it in 1548-1550 to honour the memory of his father Sultan Selim I. It’s most usual name is Yavuz Selim Madrasa or Yenibahçe. There's a pretty garden in the complex. Its architect was Sinan.
