Built in 1882, this Folk Victorian-style house at 18 West Gilman Street in Madison, Wisconsin, was constructed by Willett S. Main as an income-producing rental property (see the Property Record online).
The house is clad in wooden clapboard and features a front and side gable roof, a circular attic vent, decorative wooden trim, a one-story bay window on the front facade with decorative pilasters and a cornice with brackets and dentils, a small front porch with square Doric columns and a decorative balustrade, one-over-one windows, and a concrete-clad base.
The house is a contributing structure in the Mansion Hill Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
