The Wenz Company of Breinigsville has designed and made stone memorials beginning in 1847 by Phillip Wenz in Kutztown. In 1893, William Wenz, son of the founder, took the business over along with his two brothers, James D. and John E. Wenz In 1913, they opened an Allentown office first at 26 North Seventh, then in 1924 they moved to a larger office at 1133 Hamilton Street. At the same time, they also purchased a large tract of land in the west end of Allentown at 20th and Hamilton Streets for a work yard. The move to Allentown was necessitated by the large volume of business and also the railroad facilities at the manufacturing plant at 20th Street. In 1934 the showroom was moved to the manufacturing plant.

In 1955 Williams’s son Earl Wenz began moving the work operation to Breinigsville PA, where the Wenz farm was located. As the years passed, and Allentown grew, more and more of the actual work of constructing memorials was moved there. Also the Allentown showroom and offices were moved to 1928 Hamilton Street. In 2004, the Wenz Company consolodated its facilities at 9038 Breinigsville Road, to make it one of the most advanced memorial production facilities in the United States.
