Français : Ce manuscrit anglais fut réalisé en Est-Anglie au milieu du XIIIe siècle pour un patron vouant une vénération particulière à saint Olaf, dont la vie et le martyre sont représentés de façon prééminente dans l'initiale « B » du beatus du psaume 1. Le psautier fut utilisé ultérieurement par les nonnes de Carrow, près de Norwich, d'où il tire son nom. Il s'agit plus précisément d'un psautier-livre d'heures, car il contient entre autres des textes tels que l'office des morts et les heures de la Vierge. Le manuscrit est remarquable pour sa grande variété d'enluminures, notamment des cycles d'une page de saints, de martyrs et de scènes bibliques. Le psautier contient également des initiales historiées, et des blasons furent ajoutés aux initiales non décorées des heures de la Vierge au XVe siècle. La miniature du martyre de saint Thomas de Cantorbéry au verso du feuillet 15 est particulièrement notable. Après qu'Henry VIII reconnut Becket coupable de trahison en 1538, une page fut collée sur son image pour la dissimuler, plutôt que de la détruire. L'image a depuis été restaurée.

English: This English manuscript was made in East Anglia in the mid-13th century for a patron with special veneration for Saint Olaf, whose life and martyrdom are prominently portrayed in the Beatus initial of Psalm 1. Known as the Carrow Psalter, because of its later use by the nunnery of Carrow near Norwich, it is more accurately described as a psalter-hours, as it contains, among other texts, the Office of the Dead and the Hours of the Virgin. The manuscript is striking for its rich variety of illuminations, including full-page cycles of saints, martyrs, and biblical scenes. It also has historiated initials within the psalter, and heraldry added in the 15th century to undecorated initials in the Hours of the Virgin. Especially notable is the miniature on folio 15 verso portraying the martyrdom of Saint Thomas Becket. After Henry VIII found Becket guilty of treason in 1538, his image was concealed by gluing a page over it rather than destroying it. The image has since been rediscovered.

Português: Este manuscrito inglês foi produzido na Ânglia Oriental em meados do século XIII para um patrono com especial reverência por Santo Olavo, cuja vida e martírio são proeminentemente retratados no Beatus inicial do Salmo 1. Conhecido como Saltério de Carrow, em razão de seu uso posterior no convento de Carrow, próximo a Norwich, ele pode ser descrito com mais precisão como um saltério e livro de horas, já que contém, dentre outros textos, o Ofício das Almas e as Horas da Virgem. O manuscrito é impressionante por sua rica variedade de iluminuras, incluindo ciclos de página inteira de santos, mártires e cenas bíblicas. Español: Este manuscrito inglés se produjo en Anglia Oriental a mediados del siglo XIII para un mecenas con especial veneración por san Olaf, cuya vida y martirio están representados de forma destacada en la inicial «B» (de «beato») del salmo 1. Aunque se lo conoce como el Salterio de Carrow, debido a que luego se usó en el convento de Carrow cerca de Norwich, es más preciso describirlo como una combinación de salterio y libro de horas, ya que, entre los textos, están el Oficio de los difuntos y las Horas de la Virgen. El manuscrito es llamativo por su rica variedad de iluminaciones, que incluyen ciclos a toda página de santos, mártires y escenas bíblicas. También tiene iniciales historiadas dentro del salterio, además de heráldica que se agregó en el siglo XV a las iniciales sin decorar de las Horas de la Virgen. Se destaca especialmente la miniatura en el verso del folio 15, donde se retrata el martirio de santo Tomás Becket.
