Because of the many water mills the valley along the river Seres is also called Valle dei Mulini, mill valley. The first four mills belong to the farms of Seres, the other four to the farms of Misci. The mills were only operated in the autumn for the period necessary to mill the grain. During this period the owners lived in the mill in a small room with a stone oven. The millstones were working away day and night without a break. The miller ensured that there was always grain between the millstones to prevent unnecessary wear from “empty” grinding.
