English: To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Upminster depot of the London Underground's District line, an open weekend was held there on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 August 2009, in partnership with the London Transport Museum. With new trains due in 2013, the theme was a showcase of the past, present and future of the District line. It was the first time London Underground had fully opened one of its depots to the public since 1993, made possible by engineering works shutting the line between Barking and Upminster for the weekend. Heritage buses operated a shuttle service between the depot and Upminster itself. [1]
