English: In May 1930 the federal government contracted with the Union Pacific Railroad to construct a spur 22.6 miles long from their Los Angeles & Salt Lake rail line in Las Vegas via Henderson to Boulder City Summit. The Boulder City train station (opened on February 1, 1931) was initially planned for short-term purpose to handle only freight service for the Hoover Dam construction. Union Pacific abandoned the traffic in the mid 1970s. The Boulder City Depot building (1931) was moved to the Clark County Heritage Museum, 1830 South Boulder Highway in Henderson, Nevada where it can still be seen. In 1985 Union Pacific donated part of the historical Boulder branch to the Nevada Department of Museums and History. Today the Nevada Southern Railroad Museum (completed in 2002) operated by the Nevada State Railroad Museum is located near the tracks at Yucca Street.
