To keep the SVG versions of them together, an own category for them is established.
Many of these glyphs are of extremly simple geometry: circles, squares, rectangles and horizontal/vertical lines. But others: triangles, diamonds, parts of circles and combinations of it are more difficult to realize by SVG command elements. The size of a file shows whether it is simple (~160 bytes) or more complicated (~400 bytes).
Most of the pictures can be drawn with primitive elements as "rect", "circle" and others. By using the "path" element some can be kept much smaller, but they are losing their easy readability (for human readers — the system does not care). For some of the picture files new smaller versions had been uploaded; this enables to compare both versions.
To generate the SVG files of the Geometric Shapes, the dimension of the drawing is of no meaning — scalable graphics are of quite the same useability whether they are very small (~20 pixel) or very large (>1000 pixel); nevertheless it would have been better if there was any standard in the Commons for that. For all the glyphs of the Geometric Shapes the dimension 180 x 180 pixel was chosen which seemed a reasonable value.
