"The Information Center Service of the International Information Administration of the Department of State furnished educational, scientific, and cultural materials and information for distribution through centers maintained abroad. The photographs, which were taken by the various Centers, depict exhibitions of press materials; interiors and exteriors of Center buildings, libraries, and bookmobiles; Center staffs, cultural activities at the Centers; and people using the various facilities at Centers in nearly 60 countries of Western Europe, Africa, the Far and Near East, and Latin and South America. Among the more prominent personalities pictured are Marian Anderson, T.S. Eliot, Andre Maurois, Jawaharal Nehru, and Norman Thomas."
