The southern section connects the West Entrances of Yellowstone National Park (concurrently with U.S. Route 20 [US 20] and U.S. Route 287 [US 287]) with Yellowstone National Park (north of the West Entrance). The northern section connects Yellowstone National Park (even farther north of the West Entrance) with Saskatchewan Highway 4 in Canada. (While the roadways continue through Yellowstone National Park, and despite maps that show otherwise, US 191, US 20, and US 287 actually have gaps along the roadways within the national park.)
