The Theodore Roosevelt Executive Office and Cabinet Room occupied the eastern third of the original West Wing, built in 1902. The West Wing was expanded south (1909) and east (1934), turning the former office into a windowless interior room, and the former Cabinet Room (to the north) was divided into staff offices. Altered, but retaining its original mantel, the former Executive Office is now the Roosevelt Room.
