English: The Sourdough, a.k.a. The Prospector, Trail of '98. Statue by Alonzo Victor Lewis (1886-1946), in Sitka, Alaska, U.S. Nominally a statue of "Skagway Bill" Fonda (d. 1938), the face is his, but someone else posed for the body. The statue was begun in the 1920s, but due to funding issues, the bronze statue was cast much later, after World War II. It was cast no earlier than 1947, and finally unveiled in Sitka October 18, 1949, three years after the sculptor's death.
