The Mohican Market opened as the "Mohican Company" at 19-23 South 7th street in 1909 on property which was leased from H Leh & Company. It was part of a chain of markets in Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Connecticut which sold groceries both wholesale as well as retail.

In the early 1940s the chain was dissolved. In 1949, the property on south 7th was returned to Leh's and the building was remodeled and incorporated into the department store, giving Leh's a 7th street wing of it's existing building on Hamilton Street. M0hican Market built and opened new store at 15-19 South 9th street. In 1957, the store was bought by Melvin and Bernard Molovinsky who operated the store for the next fifteen years. The market on south Ninth Street closed in September 1972. It was the last full-service grocery market in the Central Business District of Allentown

With the closure of the market the building became the Blue Moon Bingo Parlor until the late 1980s when it was torn down. It then became a metered parking lot by the Allentown Parking Authority. Most recently the lot has been purchased by Allen Butz for a parking for his 1st building on the south side of the 800 Block of Hamilton.
