The Taff Bargoed Railway was a joint enterprise between the Rhymney Railway and Great Western Railway which opened in 1867 between Dowlais Ironworks and Cardiff. It was closed to passengers in 1964 but is now used to transport coal from the Ffos-y-fran opencast mine.
