TEDxAccra is the Ghanaian branch of TED, a non-profit organization devoted to Ideas worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California in 1990, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. The annual TED Conference invites the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes. Their talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. Also in the Ghanaian capital Accra is held an annual TED conference. The characters TED are standing for "Technology", "Entertainment" and "Design".

"...At TEDxAccra, participants will take part in a TED-like experience that will ultimately equip and inspire them into boundless possibilities. The concept is to reflect ideas and inspire thinking of a new generation of African thinkers and leaders, presenting to an audience committed to engaging and reengaging in an active and meaningful manner with the continent..."

Up to 2014, the name of this event was "TEDxLabone". It was changed to "TEDxAccra" as the 2015 event took place in the National Theater in Accra.
