As part of Phase 1 of Surrey County Council's Bus Review, route 324 was withdrawn. Initial proposals were for the route not to be replaced, however this would have left many areas unserved. There was considerable opposition to the plans during the consultation period, causing Surrey CC to change reconsider. The section of route between Redhill, Reigate and Woodhatch was replaced by new route 424. Between Woodhatch and Irons Bottom, the route received a limited replacement by the diversion of a Thursday-only journey of route 433 via Sidlow and Irons Bottom on its way between Leigh and Reigate. The link to Hookwood and Horley was lost, though route 424 continues to run onto Horley from Woodhatch - but via a different route to the 324. The changes came into effect on 28 August 2010, therefore route 324's last day was 27 August 2010.
