The diner began as the Sunnybrook Diner at Vultee and Lehigh Streets (1801-1819 Lehigh Streets) on June 8, 1955. The diner offered 24-hour service, with breakfast served at all times. In December 1970, the diner was physically moved to a new location on MacArthur Road in Whitehall. In its place, a new, permanent structure was built and the Sunnybrook Diner and Restaurant opened at the same site on Lehigh Street in March 1971. In April 1990, the diner was renamed as the Parkway Diner; in April 1994 it became the Cascade Family Restaurant, and in November 1995 the Queen City Diner when it was purchased by Christos and Paraskeri Teloniatis for $530,000 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

The Queen City served American food with daily special, salad bar, and a bakery. They were also open 24 hours. The Diner closed on 15 March 2020 when the owners have lost their lease on the property, which was taken over by the Enterprise Car rental office next door. The property was subsequently torn down in December 2000.

The owners of the property continue to operate the East Penn Diner on Chestnut Street in Emmaus.
