English: The private building on Strandstraße 10 in Plau am See, inaugurated in 1840 as the Plau synagogue and used as such until 1904. In 1920, the Plau Israelite Community sold the building to a merchant who sold it on to the diocese of Osnabrück in 1921, in 1994 succeeded by the archdiocese of Hamburg. In 1921 the old synagogue was transformed and consecrated as the Catholic Saint Paul Church. In 1939, after vandalisers had removed the anchor plates, the police closed the building due to a danger of collapse. After repairs in 1947, Catholics worshipped again in the building. In 2002, the parish left the dilapidated building and moved into the newly furnished St. Paul Chapel, opened in 2007, in the house on Markt 13 in Plau. The Torah ark of the synagogue was transferred to the "Engelscher Hof" next to the Synagogue in Röbel in 2002. The archdiocese of Hamburg sold the synagogue building to a private owner.
